Accommodation & Facilities

Penlan Cottage is on four floors, but from the roadside it appears to be a traditional two storey cottage. One enters from the roadside at the second floor level with the kitchen/dining room and the lounge. The kitchen is fully fitted and equipped with dishwasher, microwave and fridge. The lounge is very comfortable with two couches, an armchair and a great view out over the river. There is a TV, DVD and video players with a large DVD and video library. On the third floor above is a large family bedroom, a double bedroom and a toilet-shower room. The family bedroom has a super-king sized double bed, a single bed and a cot (a high chair also available) plus wardrobe and chest of drawers. The other bedroom has a double bed and fitted wardrobe. Going down from entry level to the first floor there is another double bedroom with wardrobe and chest of drawers. On the ground floor there is a spacious bathroom with toilet, a study (with an additional open-out sofa bed) and a utility area equipped with washing machine and drier. There is also a second fridge and a freezer at this level.

The ground floor level leads out on to the river side terrace, where there is a table and chairs plus a barbecue and table top heater for eating al fresco. There is a swinging hammock and sun loungers for soaking up the sun on the terrace. Steps lead down from the terrace onto the private river bank. It must be appreciated that Penlan is a riverside cottage and the terrace, which is elevated above the river, and garden are open to the river with no fencing or walls. In the summer in dry weather, the river is normally benign and one can swim from the bank, although normal precautions should be taken whether young or old as there are deeper areas and the water is cold! The river can also quickly become deep and fast flowing especially after rain. Young children therefore need supervising when outside in the garden whatever the weather or the condition of the river.

Wifi  available.

There is oiled fired central heating throughout which also supplies hot water on demand.

Fishing rights from private river bank (river rod license required - available from local Post Office)

The village street is narrow, but there are no parking restrictions and with consideration, one can park outside the cottage. Parking is also available in the car park to the Grouse Inn across the street and the publican is happy for you to leave your car there, although it is appreciated if visitors enjoy a pint occasionally or a meal from their varied menu.

Penlan Cottage is a non-smoking abode.
